First Aid Kit, Park West, Chicago, Illinois

First Aid Kit are a Swedish folk duo who have gained a fair amount of attention after the release of their sophomore album, The Lions Roar, in 2012. The band consists of sisters Johanna and Klara Söderberg on keyboard and guitar, respectively, with both girls contributing vocals. They were joined on stage by a drummer and another keyboardist, though they did some songs without them, including a couple with just a single guitar and their voices. Their father was also in the back managing the soundboard.

We didn't arrive particularly early but were still able to get quite close to the stage. I could see particularly well over the heads of the mostly female audience in front of me. It was a pretty quiet show, though they cut loose a few times a bit. Johanna in particular banged her head liberally for some gratuitous flowing of her blonde hair. The sisters were very in-sync with each other, and it was easy to tell that they could communicate with each other through only their eyes. They played about 75 minutes worth of music including an encore break of only a minute or two, which I always appreciate. Their set included a lot of tracks from their recent album which I had yet to hear.
